2007 Bank of America Championship Issues Annual Call for Volunteers

For Immediate Release, March 22, 2007:

CONCORD, Mass. – Organizing and executing the 2007 Bank of America Championship will take the combined efforts of the tournament staff, corporate sponsors and partners and a flock of volunteers nearly 1,500 strong, who donate their time and energy simply because they love the game of golf.

The tournament has issued its annual call for volunteers, who can sign up simply by visiting www.bankofamericachampionship.com. The “Volunteer” button is right at the top of the home page. Volunteer opportunities are available on more than 30 committees, ranging from transportation to fairway laser operator to corporate partner services to marshals. Any potential volunteer who doesn’t have a computer can call the tournament office at 978-266-0266.

In addition to being closer to the game than anyone else on the course, Bank of America Championship volunteers receive, for a uniform fee of $60 ($330 value):

  • One golf shirt and one outerwear piece (or a second shirt, or one round of golf at Stow Acres CC)
  • One baseball hat, visor or straw hat ($6 extra for the straw hat)
  • Volunteer parking pass
  • One Volunteer Badge (good for entry to event all seven days)
  • Lunch vouchers on workdays
  • Five extra "good-any-day" tickets
  • Volunteer party
  • Subscription to GOLF MAGAZINE

In the past 26 years, volunteers have contributed hundreds of thousands of hours to the tournament. They have helped make possible charitable donations of more than $4.5 million over the tournament’s history, all to local beneficiaries such as the Boys and Girls Clubs of Assabet Valley, The Genesis Fund, Emerson Hospital, Hanscom Air Force Base-Project Concern, Greater Waltham Association for Retarded Citizens, Concord-Carlisle Athletic Boosters, Lincoln-Sudbury All Sports Boosters and many more.

The 2007 Bank of America Championship takes place June 18-24 at Nashawtuc Country Club in Concord, its home since 1984. Early player commitments to this twenty-seventh annual edition of the tournament include Tom Watson, who will compete for the first time at the tournament, 2005 tournament champion Mark McNulty, Andy Bean, Allen Doyle, R.W. Eaks, Morris Hatalsky, Tom Kite, Dana Quigley, Craig Stadler, Jim Thorpe, Bobby Wadkins and D.A. Weibring.
