2007 Bank of America Championship Offers Fans a Week Packed With Activities

For Immediate Release, June 7, 2007:

CONCORD, Mass. – A weekend of championship golf may be the main attraction, but the 2007 Bank of America Championship actually will offer fans a whole week packed with golf-oriented activities when the twenty-seventh annual Bank of America Championship comes to Nashawtuc Country Club in Concord, June 18-24. The tournament is the oldest 54-hole event on the Champions Tour, is the only Champions Tour stop in New England, has been played at Nashawtuc Country Club since 1984 and has contributed more than $4.5 million to local charities over the past 26 years. This year’s activities start Tuesday, June 19, and include:

  • Tuesday, June 19, Nashawtuc gates open, 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m.
    • Champions Tour Open Qualifying, Shaker Hills GC, Harvard, 8:30 a.m.
    • Practice day for Champions Tour professionals
  • Wednesday, June 20, Nashawtuc gates open, 6:30 a.m.-4 p.m.
    • Championship Pro-Am, tee times 8 a.m. & 1:30 p.m.
    • Craig Stadler-Smith & Wollensky Charity Dinner, Smith & Wollensky Boston, 6:30 p.m.
  • Thursday, June 21, Nashawtuc gates open, 6:30 a.m.-4 p.m.
    • Championship Pro-Am, tee times 8 a.m. & 1:30 p.m.
    • Wounded Warriors Disabled Sports Project Pro-Am Group, 1:30 p.m.
    • Jacobsen “Green Day” Celebration, 1-4 p.m.
    • BJ’s/PepsiCo Short Game Clinic, 3-4 p.m.
  • Friday, June 22, Nashawtuc gates open, 7:30 a.m.-3 p.m.
    • Championship Round 1, 9:30 a.m./two tees
    • Wounded Warriors Disabled Sports Project Group, follows final pro group

All activities take place at Nashawtuc Country Club in Concord unless otherwise noted. The Champions Tour Open Qualifying round at nearby Shaker Hills Golf Club in Harvard is free to the public and will fill nine slots in the Bank of America Championship field. The Craig Stadler-Smith & Wollensky dinner will benefit The Genesis Fund and Disabled Sports USA. Tickets are $500 each and are available by calling 978-266-0266.

This year’s field of Champions Tour professionals includes seven members of the World Golf Hall of Fame, 16 of the top 24 all-time money winners on the Champions Tour, eight former Bank of America Championship winners, including defending champion Mark McNulty. This will be Tom Watson’s first appearance at the Bank of America Championship, and he’ll be joined by first-timers Chip Beck, Jay Haas, Scott Hoch, Nick Price and Curtis Strange. This actually is Strange’s second time on the list of tournament competitors, but he didn’t get to play last year, as the 2006 tournament became only the second tournament in Champions Tour history to be canceled because of inclement weather.

Others in this year’s field are Jim Albus, Jim Dent, Allen Doyle, Bruce Fleisher, Bob Gilder, Hale Irwin, Tom Jenkins, Tom Kite, Bruce Lietzke, Larry Nelson, Dana Quigley, Craig Stadler, Dave Stockton and Lee Trevino.

General admission grounds tickets good for any day during tournament week are $20 purchased in advance and $25 after June 17. Children 15 and under accompanied by an adult will be admitted free.
