LOCAL ATHLETES COMPETE
IN MGA/MIAA HIGH SCHOOL INVITATIONAL
AT 25TH ANNIVERSARY BANK OF AMERICA CHAMPIONSHIP

$5,000 in winnings to top three teams

CONCORD, Mass - Local athletes will compete in the MGA/MIAA High School Invitational, a variation of the Junior Pro-Am event held in previous years, during tournament week at the twenty-fifth anniversary Bank of America Championship, which takes place at Nashawtuc Country Club in Concord, June 20-26.

The MGA/MIAA High School Invitational kicks-off with an 11:30 a.m. shotgun start on Tuesday, June 21, at MGA Links at Mamantapett, Chartley (Norton), Mass. The high schools of the three top teams will split $5,000 in winnings, $2,500 first prize, $1,500 second prize and $1,000 third prize. Trophies also will be awarded for first, second and third places, and the top three teams will be invited to the Champions Tour Kids Clinic held at 4 p.m. on Friday, June 24,, 2005, at the Bank of America Championship, where they will be recognized.

In addition, two Champions Tour pros will join the high-school golfers for a clinic and awards reception following the MGA/MIAA High School Invitational.

This competition will comprise 18 four-person high-school golf teams competing in either 18 foursomes or 24 threesomes in a stroke play event with a single winner. A team champion, the lowest scoring team using the best three or four scores, also will be crowned.

A shoot-out competition also will be held throughout the day. On a given hole, each team will determine who on their team hit the closest shot to the hole. That team member will be the team’s representative in the final shoot-out. Following the round, that representative will compete against the other teams’ representatives in a knockout style shoot-out.
