BANK OF AMERICA CHAMPIONSHIP GOLF MARATHON BENEFITS LOCAL BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS
August 3, 2005
CONCORD, Mass. - You can help the Bank of America Championship expand its support of local charities and have a lot of fun by taking part in the 2005 Bank of America Championship Golf Marathon.
This year the marathon will raise money for local Boys & Girls Clubs.
"The support provided by Nashawtuc Charities through the Bank of America Championship is a large part of our annual funding and vital to our success," said John Mason, executive director, Boys & Girls Club of Assabet Valley. "We are able to provide our programs and services to hundreds of kids in our local community as a direct result of our partnership with the tournament."
Last year's marathon proved popular with many area golfers. "It was great to know that I could make a difference for charity just by playing golf," said John Cooney, a 2004 golf marathon participant. "I had a blast 'marathoning' with my friends, and playing 100-plus holes was easier than I thought. The golf marathon easily exceeded my expectations."
The 2005 Bank of America Championship Golf Marathon will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 7, on the South Course at Stow Acres Country Club. Individual participants and teams will tee off between 6 a.m. and 8 a.m. A maximum of 40 players will have the South Course all to themselves to play as many holes as possible during the day. Each marathoner needs a minimum of $1,500 in pledges to play.
The Bank of America Championship will provide participants with lunch and snacks during the day, prizes for top fundraisers and a thank-you gift package for every marathoner that includes a tournament hat, t-shirt, dozen golf balls, 2006 Bank of America Championship tickets and more.
Prizes this year will include a choice of two round-trip airline tickets or week-of-golf getaway. 2006 Bank of America Championship Platinum Club skybox tickets (premium view of tournament action, complimentary food and beverages), chance to walk 18 holes with a Champions Tour pro as an Honorary Observer, Hospitality Pavilion tickets (complimentary food and beverages), merchandise tent gift certificates, photo and story in official tournament program and personalized photo from Champions Tour Marathon/Ironman Dana Quigley.
