BANK OF AMERICA CHAMPIONSHIP NAMES JOHN SLATTERY SALES & MARKETING DIRECTOR

CONCORD, Mass. - John P. Slattery Jr. of Stow has been appointed the new director of marketing and sales of The Bank of America Championship, according to tournament director Tracy West. West, founder and president of Hayson Sports Group, which operates the Bank of America Championship for Nashawtuc Charities, Inc., said Slattery also has been appointed executive vice president of the company.
Brian Oates, who has been the Bank of America Championship's marketing and sales director for the past seven years, has become an advertising sales executive for Fox Sports Net New England.
"We appreciate Brian's many outstanding contributions to the Bank of America Championship during his long association with the tournament and wish him the best of luck at Fox Sports Net New England," West said, "and we anticipate the smooth transition of our marketing and sales efforts to John, who is a long-time Boston-area marketer and will bring a range of talents and experience to the tournament."
With nearly 25 years of experience in sports television, event marketing and sales, Slattery most recently was president of The Slattery Group and New England Marketing Connection, public relations and marketing firms, respectively, that he founded. He was one of 10 original employees of New England Sports Network, the cable network of the Boston Red Sox, and served the organization as director of advertising and public relations, vice president of marketing communications and vice president of new business development. He began his career with Agnew, Carter, McCarthy Public Relations in Boston after receiving his bachelor's degree from Boston College.
Slattery has received numerous advertising, marketing and broadcast industry awards, and has served as a board member of the Massachusetts Amateur Sports Foundation and board member and vice president of the New England Electronic Media Association.
