25TH ANNIVERSARY BANK OF AMERICA CHAMPIONSHIP STILL HAS SOME SPOTS LEFT FOR VOLUNTEERS
April 7, 2005CONCORD, Mass - The twenty-fifth anniversary Bank of
America Championship, which takes place at Nashawtuc Country Club in
Concord June 20-26, still has positions open on volunteer committees,
especially on the scoring command, standard bearer (great for kids over
13), merchandise and pro-am committees.
About 1,500 volunteers, who have an unparalleled opportunity to “get
inside the game” with top professional golfers, help staff the
tournament each year. These volunteers are champions for charitable
giving, according to tournament director Tracy West. With their help,
the tournament has donated nearly $3.8 million to local charities over
its 24-year history.
The Bank of America Championship is the only place in New England where golf fans can enjoy PGA TOUR Champions Tour golf with its highly competitive spirit and fan friendly environment. Tournament spectators also can expect a variety of twenty-fifth anniversary events, a full slate of tournament week activities, like pro/fan clinics, and interactive fan favorites like the gallery in the fairway, which takes place during championship play.
Early player commitments include defending champion Craig Stadler and other top Champions Tour players like Tom Kite, Bruce Fleisher, Larry Nelson, Jim Thorpe, Bob Gilder and Don Pooley and local favorites Dana Quigley and Allen Doyle, who won the 2003 Bank of America Championship.
No special experience is necessary to be a Bank of America Championship volunteer, only a love of golf. In addition to an unparalleled opportunity to get inside the game, Volunteers receive a golf shirt and outerwear clothing or second shirt, baseball cap, visor, bucket hat or straw hat, volunteer parking pass, volunteer badge good for admission throughout tournament week, lunch vouchers on work days, volunteer party and five extra good-any-one-day tickets.
The total retail value of this package is more than $330, but the cost to a volunteer is $60. This volunteer fee not only helps defray the costs of the uniforms, but also represents a major contribution to tournament charities.
Golf fans can fill out a volunteer application, get up-to-date information about the twenty-fifth anniversary Bank of America Championship and buy tickets online by visiting www.bankofamericachampionship.com.
